De gendt triumphs in Naples as a soloist
The Belgian Thomas de Gendt won the eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia. The 35-year-old cycling professional from the Lotto-Soudal team won on Saturday in the final sprint of an outlier quartet in front of the Italian Davide Gabburo (Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè) and the Spaniard Jorge Arcas (Moviestar) during the circuit by Naples.

In the overall ranking, the Spaniard Juan Pedro Lopez (Trek-Segafredo) claimed the pink jersey, Lennard Kämna from the German Team Bora-Hansgrohe remained in second place with 38 seconds.
The ninth stage promises a lot of excitement on Sunday, because there are a total of five climbs on the 190 -kilometer route. It goes from Isernia up to the mountain arrival with the hardest climb of the Giro d'Italia.
