NBA star Kevin Durant invests in US
The two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant has entered the NJ/NY Gotham FC as a minority owner. The team from the US Women's Football League (NWSL) confirmed a corresponding participation of the group Thirty Five Ventures (35V) of the Small Forwards of Brooklyn Nets.
Durant and his business partner Rich Kleiman are the third party who has been participating in the club since March.
Gotham, which reached the first round of the playoffs and the final of the NWSL Challenge Cup last year, is based in the neighboring New Jersey, the home town of Durant. Kleiman said that the two want to continue to push the success further.
"As a New York company, it was a matter of course for us to work with a future-oriented team such as Gotham FC," said 35V co-founder Kleiman in a press release.
"The NWSL has grown so strongly in recent years and the chance of participating in this growth and working directly with the management team and the Gotham FC players is really exciting," added Kleiman.
Who is still involved in Gotham FC?
Durant is the next great sports personality that acquires a participation in the association based in Harrison. The 316-time US national player Carli Lloyd was announced as a shareholder after the renaming of Sky Blue last year.
Kristin Bernert and Karen Bryant were also announced as co -owners in March. The majority owners remain Phil Murphy, the reigning governor of New Jersey, and his wife Tammy.
are there other NBA stars with team participations?
Durant is by no means the first superstar from the NBA to use his professional experience in a different sports area. He follows LeBron James, who holds a minority stake in Liverpool FC.
